No…. I’m not saying i completely disliked the movie. But i was quite disappointed!!! 😦
May be i would have had the mindset and expectations similar to that of Rang De Basanti.

Well, Delhi-6 is filled with well defined characters, good
cinematography and snappy dialogue. It’s a simple story by itself, but
it’s the little twists and turns, watching how the different characters
interact with each other and how the little plot elements suddenly
become big, quite realistically at that, which makes the film
engrossing. I didn’t like the end though, it was bit too filmy, typical bollywood style!!!

It’s the story revolves around Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) who is an NRI (But he looks more Desi!!!) born and brought up in USA. He accompanies his grandma (Waheeda Rehman) who is counting her days and wants to spend her last days at Delhi-6 (Chandni Chowk). And he meets people like Rishi Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Om Puri, Flashy Pawan Malhotra (Brother of Om Puri in this movie) and so on. And the movie runs through few incidents or things in Delhi:

  1. Ramleela, which helps bring some timeless points home (brothers quarreling in
real life vs the Ram-Laxman relationship, for example)
  2. The amazing β€˜kala bandar’ (Black monkey), a creature who is ostensibly
stalking the streets of chandni chowk, and providing fodder to the
numerous TV news channels desperate to scare us for extra.
  3. Due to the above, the Hindu-Muslim quarrels in Chandni Chowk.

What I liked in this movie:

  1. The music : AR Rahman rocks as usual. Masakali, the theme song, and Gendha phool.
  2. Sonam Kappor: She was cute and charming.
  3. Hehehehehe…. I liked the hilarious sex scene with the remote accidentally
changing the channels which describe the various stages of passion πŸ˜€
  4. The way they had pictured Chandni Chowk πŸ™‚ It was beautiful.
  5. The story line with perfectly defined characters.

What I dint like in this movie:

  1. The story and characters were perfect, but the way they moved the story was slow. I’m used to seeing movies where the first half was faster than the second half (That’s fine, U know the first impression is the best!!!!) But the second half seemed moved faster than the first half (Both were slow!!!!).
  2. Abhishek Bachchan: he did not look like an NRI. He looked more of a Desi guy especially his accent 😦 😦 😦 (Surprisingly i did not drool drool drool for AB –Β  May be!!! i have become old 😦 😦 😦 )

In the end, i had this mixed feeling about this movie. I was neither very disappointed nor very satisfied watching this movie. (May be i should watch this movie again, and be clear of how i feel about this movie)

Rating: 2.5/5

Somewhere…
Somewhere… It must be the world you’re with me…
Where I, Where you and where only emotions reside…

But….
I have lost you… I have lost the way to you…

Oh no… It’s not me… It’s just a translation of a Hindi song from Whether you know or not (jaane tu ya Jaane na)…

I am…

Reading: I’m not reading anything. All i could do is read newspapers when i have the time. That’s so bad. I’m trying to develop my reading habit.

Listening:

  1. All the Dil Chahtha Hain songs – My o my i’m sooo feeling nostalgic. I’m missing my school days. College was fun but nothing compared to my school. My friends… Greatest gift in my life. Life without SR,Paarthu, Apeterna and so on… (The list is actually looooooooong, but these people are really close to my heart) πŸ™‚ i dont know how life would have been at school… and even now… That’s awesome nooo… Friends from school till NOW πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
  2. Gendha phool (Delhi 6)
  3. Delhi 6 theme song
  4. Masakali (Delhi 6)
  5. Aathichudi (TN 4777 – don’t remember the full name of the movie)
  6. Vaada Mapilley (Villu) – This is the only song i like from this movie. This sounds like a Baila song (Origin: Srilanka)
  7. Don’t go away (Oasis)
  8. All the songs from Jaane tu ya Jaane na –Β  I happened to watch this movie yesterday on DVD. I was not here when it released and by the time i was here, it was not there on theatres. Cute jolly youthful romantic movie. And ihaven’t listened to their songs. WOW!!! I had wasted three months not listening to them. AR Rahman rocks…. Always!!! πŸ™‚
  9. Mausam & Escape (Slumdog Millionaire)
  10. Dreams on fire (Slumdog Millionaire)
  11. Jai Ho (Slumdog Millionaire)
  12. Live your life (TI feat Rihanna) – This song reminds me of my newly found friends. Tigo, Ezee boy, Jones and Sid πŸ™‚
Sorry Sid!!! I had totally forgot about that he was leaving on 20th Feb. Sheeesh!!! forgot to call him up also 😦 But i know you would have totally forgotten about that there’s this soul (That’s me) Bleedy boy dint have the courtesy to call me up before leaving to the US.
  13. Marjaani (Billu Barber)
  14. You get me rocking (Billu Barber)
  15. Another brick in the wall (Pink Floyd)
  16. Money (Pink Floyd) – This is my first time listening to Pink Floyd songs. Thanks to my dad!!! He was the one who introduced me to these songs. I have just listened to them. They are nice…
  17. She will be loved (Maroon 5) – Wow!!! What a romantic song…
Watching: Rather watched Delhi-6 and saw Slumdog Millionaire for the 3rd time πŸ™‚ I also saw Jaane Tu ya Jaane na… Wow it was refreshing movie.

Planning for Weeeeeeekend: No weekend plans as of now. But had a very good weekend πŸ™‚
Finally watched a movie in theatre after Slumdog Millionaire. Then met my friends at Coffee shop. It was big time fun πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
And went to Dreams Come True shop at Prince plaza, Egmore, Chennai. They are really famous for bangles. Wow they were sooo pretty but not very pocket friendly. I should say minimum would be 40 per dozen. U get both stylish and traditional bangles.

Shopping: I have shopped a lot of bangles. As i said above, Dreams Come True was amazing. Yeah i bought a dozen of white metal bangles, maroon metal bangles (They look really pretty) and some plain glass bangles.

Proudest moment for Indians!!!!

Jai Ho to Resul Pookutty (I don’t know why there are no hypes for him. Come on!!! he’s also an Indian and was the first one to get an Oscar before AR Rahman) and the one and only AR Rahman (Mozart of Madras)

I’m happy because:

  1. Resul Pookutty – Won Oscars for Best Sound Mixing

  2. AR Rahman – Won 2 Oscars for Best Original score and Music for Slumdog Millionaire

  3. Mohammad (Salim as a kid) and Rubina Ali (Latika as a kid) went on the red carpet. In fact! all the kids were on the red carpet πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  4. My god!!! Watta luck for those kids who would have never dreamt of going to the oscars, meeting the big stars and so on. I can understand how their parents would have felt about them. πŸ™‚

  5. I’m also happy that AR Rahman spoke in tamil at the Oscars saying “Elaam Pugalum iraivannuke” (All glory and fame is to god) Wow… Goosebumps all over me!!!
  6. Smile Pinki – Again an Indian based Documentary won the Oscars (I have to research more on this).

I’m sooo happy and feeling energetic today (23rd Feb 2009) Monday, that i don’t feel my usual Monday morning blues. Our whole office were watching the live show and now its full of energy and proud feeling πŸ™‚

My god!!! Dev Patel was sooo cute and very nice of him to carry Rubina Ali when the Best Picture award was given πŸ™‚ (Drool Drool!!!)

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE… I happened to see this movie online. From then, i have been waiting for the release… Waited to watch it in big screen πŸ™‚

Chussss… I saw it today…. Million smileys. A good start for my weekend πŸ™‚

I have read a lot of blogs and reviews about the movie. So I’m not talking about it. But i have a list of things i like about the movie and i’m going to bullet them. I’m couldn’t rate them… That’s really confusing…

  • Story (It is written. Its their Destiny!!! Love… Wow its a beautiful feeling!!!)
  • Dev Patel (He’s not macho, but perfect for Jamal Malik… He’s weirdly cute) πŸ™‚
  • AR Rahman (Dreams on Fire and Mausam & Escape… Woooh!!! my hair just stands and goose flesh all over)
  • Madhur Mittal (One of my favorite character in the movie… Well defined!)
  • Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, Rubina and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail (Three small musketeers)
  • Bollywood style – End credit (Jai Ho!!!) πŸ™‚

I’m just in love with Dreams on fire song. In a day, i would have listen to it for at least ten times and its a must before i go to sleep. I’m in love with the lyrics too. According to my knowledge, i have heard many songs where the guy sings about the girl. There are very little of where the girl sings about the guy and here’s one. Wooooh!!! And here it goes,

“You Are My Waking Dream, You’ re All That’s Real To Me

You Are The Magic In The World I See
You Are In The Prayer I Saying, You Are In My Two My Names
You Are The Faith That Make Me Believe
Dreams On Fire, Higher N Higher
Passions Burning, Ride On The Path,

Once spark, Forever Yours!!!
In Me, All Your Heart,

Dreams On Fire, Higher N Higher!!!

You Are My Ocean Rage, You Are My Thought Each Day
You Are The Laughter From Childhood Games
You Are Things Further Down, You Are Where I Belong
You Are Make Me Feel In Every Song
Dreams On Fire, Higher N Higher,

Passions Burning, Ride On The Path,

Once spark, Forever Yours!!!

In Me, All Your Heart,

Dreams On Fire, Higher N Higher!!!”

Now, Slumdog Millionaire is one of the
movie in my FAVORITE’s list πŸ™‚ Those who like watching nude reality movie, then this is a must watch.

P.S. Post created on: 24th January 2009

My-oh-my!!! Hectic days… In life there are too many process and complications… Forget that!!!

Well, this week no outing no dinner no freaking…

Last week, China town and Zara Tapas… China town was not my first time and I like Chinese cuisine, so no reviews about that!!!

Zara Tapas, the Mexican restro bar… Nice ambiance and they serve yummy desserts; the cocktails were not that great!

Apple Martini and Long island iced tea were nice. I like apple and tea flavor, but this apple martini was nothing compared to what i had at Bangkok (Slurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp!!!) πŸ™‚

To the dessert, ooooomph! I had key lime pie with ice cream. I felt the taste of lime, condensed milk and honey. It was yummmm after a good lunch and drink.

Well I’m thinking whether I have done anything more than that last weekend.

Yea my weekend is quite boring this time 😦

I started writing this blog a month ago. I’m not good at movie reviews. I’m always biased and it completely depends on my mood when i watch a movie. Hectic days at work can be an excuse of not posting this one. I had completely forgotten that i had started writing this review. This could be one of the worst movie review post.

And and and … Google Doc was blocked for sometime in my office 😦 But today i could access it. I feel comfortable typing here than in the admin of this blog.

Finally I saw one of the movie from the list….

DostanaI heard both Positive and negative reviews about the movie… This movie story line reminded of an Adam Sandler movie “I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry “…

After a hectic month of both work and study, i really felt like watching an entertainment movie. I did not want to look for logic wanted to watch movie like OmShanthi Om and so on. Plus one of my favorite actor is Abhishek Bachchan.

Huh… Because of my friend i had missed the first 15 mins of the movie. Sameer (Abhishek) and Kunal (John Abraham) are friends who are looking for an apartment. Sameer is a nurse while John is a phtographer. They were looking for PG accomodation and happened to visit a fabulous apartment which is owned by Neha (Priyanka). Both of them did not want to give up the apartment and wanted to stay with the Hot Neha. So they pretended to be Gay!!! Lol πŸ˜€

Eventually both of them fell in love with Neha. Before they could express the love for her, Abhimanyu Singh (Bobby Deol) Neha’s boss enters Neha’s life. Initially he hated her boss but slowly started liking him and dating him. Sameer and Kunal tries to bring differences and misunderstandings between them. And the usual bollywood romantic masala stuff!!!

To talk about the music, i love Khabar nahi and Desi girl. The former was a nice melodious song, esp during the first part of the song which starts with a guitar bit… and the guy who sang “meremaula mere” (Watta voice)
Desi girl is a nice peppy dance number. (I have them in my favorite playlist in my walkman) πŸ™‚

I would it was a musical entertainer and must watch for Abhishek fans (See i told you im completely biased because i like him) πŸ™‚
I also like John’s performance in this movie (i dont like him, but i like him in this movie)

Rating: 3/5

One movie in two months is not very good at all for me…

I have a list of movies to watch but damn I’m not getting the time to watch them;

  1. Madgascar 2 Escape 2 Africa
  2. Dostana
  3. Rab ne bana di jodi
  4. Abhiyum Naanum – I happened to watch the first half of this movie. Damn work!!!! Satyam Cinemas is just few steps away from my office. So bunked work. Of course! without my boss knowing about it. It gives a very good feeling when you bunk office ;). But i did inform my senior about it. Just before the intermission i gotta call from my senior and told me that boss was looking out for me. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! I need a break. Yes i had to attend a demo at 2pm. It was hard to leave a movie just watching the first half. But i did that when i saw Adhi (One stupid movie of Vijay). I literally ran out of the theater after intermission.
  5. Ghajini
  6. High school musical 3

SR promised that we he would give me all the seasons of Friends. I’m excited about that too πŸ™‚

Finally myself and SR gave combined b’day treat today… Usually we plan to meet when Paarthu or VR comes to town. Paarthu was here, so we planned to meet at Eden, Besant Nagar. It was vetti gang’s reunion except for Machan and VR.

We had three starters, i did not concentrate much on the menu cuz i was concentrating on catching up what’s happening with my friends… I remember we had fried cauliflower, panner stuffed something and corn soaked in bread.

SR, Apeter and Paarthu preferred to have north indian main course. They ordered the usual naan’s and panner gravy’s. Myself, Kitten and Gym girlΒ  tried out continental. I had Vegetable risotto and other two had chef’s Baked Bowl and something similar to Baked Bowl. Well, vegetable risotto belongs to Japanese cuisine. It is served with rice and some yellowish gravy. The quantity was too much per person if you are really hungry.

I don’t know why i did not have the drive to eat much. It involved more of chit chatting with friends. We wanted to have dessert at Jelly Belly that is located downstairs. Unlucky we were that it was closed.

Myself and Gym girl did some shopping for gypsy jewelry. Gym girl bought some lovely anklets and they cost ten per pair. We can bargain if we buy more of them. I looked for assorted beads as my colleague (also my friend) and Aunty bought a pair of pliers, hooks and head pins to make handmade earrings. My colleague taught me how to make them (Thank u :)). I did find them but some were shapeless and i did not have time. They did have some good stuff. I’ll go there next time research more on beads.

After that we went to Apeter’s place.. Had nice cup of tea… We chatted chatted and chatted… It was a nice get together… It left me a nostalgic feeling… I just dint want the day to end.

Its true all good things ends up in sad thoughts… I read this in a poem by William Wordsworth!!!
